Urge Council to Implement the Task Force Recommendations

The Municipality's official Centre Pier Development Task Force submitted its Final Report on October 25, and the Report opens the door to a positively revitalized Pier and waterfront.

It is crucial that this Report not be buried. That's why we need you to sign this petition, asking Council to endorse and implement the recommendations of their own Task Force. Petition From: YOUR NAME, ADDRESS, PHONE NUMBER WHEREAS, The Final Report of the Centre Pier Development Task Force, appointed by the Municipality of Port Hope, recommends that the Centre Pier must not be left vacant; it states that the Port Hope Area Initiative (PHAI) must be required to restore the Pier to full utility instead of leaving the Pier as an unserviced vacant lot; and it recommends that the Municipality receive independent third-party review of the Centre Pier remediation cost and scheduling estimates provided by PHAI, therefore we petition Port Hope Municipal Council, and the Commissioners of the Port Hope Harbour Commission, to promptly endorse and implement the recommendations set out in the Final Report of the Centre Pier Development Task Force, and to defer the order to demolish the Pier buildings, pending the completion of the full planning process recommended by the Task Force.
